Mohammed Abusway is currently a second-year undergraduate in the school of engineering at Columbia University majoring in Operations Research, with plans to switch his course of study to that of Economics and Sociology. Originally from Strongsville, OH, Mohammed came to Columbia seeking the opportunity to make a difference and to broaden his scope on the world. His societal interests are those of the identification of intersectional identities and how they disproportionately affect certain groups of people, as well as the voices that economic and capitalistic markets marginalize. Mohammed’s career and industry interests are those of international governmental and nongovernmental agencies, public policy, law, and advocation, and global markets. Mohammed is also a hurdler on Columbia’s track and field team.
