Irena Trifunovic is pursuing a Masters in Social Work and Minor in Law. With undergraduate degrees in Linguistics and Psychology (UC Santa Barbara), Irena worked in the technology sector before pursuing an interest in community engagement and education. As an early intervention provider and special education teacher, she created and implemented curricula using a DIR (developmental, individual-differences, relationship-based) education model.
During her first year of graduate school, Irena interned at an Alternative Learning Center in Brooklyn where she worked with teenagers facing high school suspensions, advocating for student rights and restorative justice practices. Her research interests focus on the intersection of technology and social work, particularly how contemporary social issues and inequities are affected by technology, how youth interact with technology, and how this can be leveraged to improve health outcomes.
